SCHOOLS BLOOM:
Inspiring sustainability in schools
WHAT WE DO
Main areas of our focus
Spreading awareness on biodiversity and sustainability in schools.
Our main goal is to create an aware and active community that helps maintain the wonderful biodiversity of our planet!

Restoring meadows to help out insects.
We also focus on restoring the habitats of insects, since their populations have been declining at a particularly alarming rate.

Providing sanctuaries for birds.
We provide shelter for birds and a variety of types of food to accommodate all bird species and ensure them a reliable harbor during winter (or whenever it's necessary).

Installing shelters for insects.
We strive to create suitable homes for insects in our community where they can take shelter and benefit from the environment.
This is our story
BIS Blooms is an organization of students and teachers at the Bavarian International School. We strive to make a difference in our community and ecosystem. We focus on nourishing insects and wildlife by restoring native meadows and natural environments around our community. We hope our project does not only encourage schools in Germany to do their part but inspires school communities worldwide, to make the world a better place for future generations.

HOW WE HELP
Current projects
Restoring meadows to help out insects
Meadows are extremely important for insect populations. This is the reason why we are currently planting meadows on our school campus. Our goal is to nourish our local insect populations and preserve the wonderful biodiversity of our countryside.
Providing sanctuaries for birds
We have installed bird feeders all around the BIS Campus in Haimhausen, and we constantly supply them with bird feed thanks to the kind donations by our students and staff. This helps provide our local bird population with a supply of food during the harsh winter season.
Installing shelters for insects
Insects comprise a large part of Bavaria's natural inhabitants. To help them survive during winter and in their rapidly decreasing habitat, we have installed insect shelters, designed to house many different types of insects. There are located all around our campus, but primarily in parts next to the forest, as there is a higher insect population...
