WHO WE ARE

This is our story

We are the BIS Blooms and we are striving to make an impact on this world. Our team is Louisa, the Student Coordinator of BIS Blooms, Mia, Sophia, Elle, Ayo, Zainab, Ruby, and Francesco and we are the BIS Blooms team from the Bavarian International School.

One year ago, we saw a flaw in our community. We had taken our local environment for granted without creating a balance. We were experiencing a rapid fall in our native insect species and vegetation. A study found that our local river, the Isaar, lost 75% of its wild bee species. We raised awareness, persuaded the director, held presentations, collected funds, bought seeds, cultivated a meadow and ultimately: engaged the school community in biodiversity activism and addressed our issue: biodiversity loss... (show a few photos) We want other schools to experience this domino effect of environmental action as well.

Therefore, WE HAVE a small SOLUTION to evoke BIG CHANGE. We have come up with an award, titled SCHOOLS BLOOM... It aims to integrate biodiversity into other school communities so other schools can make their own impacts on their environment.

We in BIS hope our project does not only encourage schools in Germany to do their part but inspires school communities worldwide, to make the world a better place for future generations.
