Installing shelters for insects
Insects comprise a large part of Bavaria's natural inhabitants. To help them survive during winter and in their rapidly decreasing habitat, we have installed insect shelters, designed to house many different types of insects. There are located all around our campus, but primarily in parts next to the forest, as there is a higher insect population in those areas.

Discovering about insect biodiversity in school
To integrate the lessons that nature can teach us and encourage students to find out more about insects and biodiversity, at the Bavarian International School we have created a design project for Grade 7 consisting of them going through the process of designing and building an insect home similar to the ones above, after having researched on the different local insect species and what materials could offer the best habitat for them. In this way, we are actively integrating biodiversity into our school curriculum, and getting students close and familiar with these topics that are really close to our values.
